Dental Crowns Glasgow
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is an artificial replacement tooth which has a similar colour to your natural teeth. They are available in a range of materials which includes gold, ceramic and the traditional porcelain fused to metal crown.
The main advantage of a dental crown is that they hide the signs of a damaged or decayed tooth as well as maintaining the tooth’s current function. Crowns last for many years and are very strong and resilient.
At Dentistry on the Square we offer a range of dental crowns to suit your needs.
Our CEREC Technology has transformed the way we do crowns. The CEREC machine allows us to create a crown for you in just minutes, meaning that we can actually fit your new crown during your break!
A scan is taken of your mouth. The CEREC machine then uses the information to prepare a crown that is the exact size and colour to match your existing teeth.
The preparation of the crown only takes a few minutes and once ready we can fit your crown, meaning that you can walk away from practice after just one session. No need for temporary crowns to be fitted.
Porcelain fused to metal crowns (or PFM crowns) is a procedure whereby a metal alloy is attached to your tooth. Porcelain is then fused to the metal to create a very strong and long lasting crown.
Because porcelain is used to create the outer part of the crown, the appearance is natural and the colour is very similar to that of your existing teeth.
These crowns are strong enough to withstand heavy biting force, and at the same time can have an excellent cosmetic appearance.
